A damp start to our 4/11/15 session . . .

On April 11th the weather was mixed.  It pouring just before the session started, then the rain stopped and the sun slowly broke through.  Tough early weather can put a damper on volunteer turnout. But we still had seventeen (17) great volunteers and got lots done. Below Jesse and our other early volunteers stand atContinue reading “A damp start to our 4/11/15 session . . .”

The 3/14/15 session; SVC’s Outdoor Club – and many more . . .

On March 14th the weather was mixed but we still had a great turnout, thirty-seven (37) incredible volunteers. Below you’ll see some of our younger volunteers helping with the reroute of the trail called “Rooty”. The reroute is no longer riddled with exposed roots, maybe a rename will be in order… Below you’ll see aContinue reading “The 3/14/15 session; SVC’s Outdoor Club – and many more . . .”

HOP Public Trail Facility, work started on 1/24/15 …

On January 24 the weather ‘before’ our session was ugly. As you might expect poor weather can negatively affect turnout. As often happens the weather improved, by the session’s start time it was nice. We are fortunate, our volunteers are hearty souls.  Weather varies, and on Little Mountain it changes quickly. Our people simply dressContinue reading “HOP Public Trail Facility, work started on 1/24/15 …”

A strong start to 2015

On January 10 the weather was fine and our turnout was great.  Starting 2015 with twenty-four (24) volunteers was far beyond our expectations.  We had a handful new faces, some high school students from Burlington and Mount Vernon, and of course a bunch of regulars – including our friend Art. Having this many volunteers allowedContinue reading “A strong start to 2015”

Finishing Up 2014 with “Youth United”…

In the following photo you’ll see the west end of Julieanne has been relocated.  It no longer connects directly with Bonnie & Clyde’s.  It now joins a hiking trail calledContinue reading “Finishing Up 2014 with “Youth United”…”

More work on Bonnie & Clyde’s, the 11/13/14 session…

We widened and improved Bonnie & Clyde’s in a few places this session. We’re working hard to finish up the projects on the South side of Little Mountain. InContinue reading “More work on Bonnie & Clyde’s, the 11/13/14 session…”

Recapping our last two sessions; 9/30 & 10/11 …

Since our last blog update a great deal has happened. First, on 9/30 the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) came out for a special session. They worked really hard, completing a significant trail section. When finished this new multi-use trail connector will give our neighbors on the south side of Little Mountain their own trailhead.Continue reading “Recapping our last two sessions; 9/30 & 10/11 …”
