The Nature Trail and Bridge are officially open

On September 28th we had our ribbon cutting and celebration for the Nature Trail and our new bridge. People gathered at the new east park entrance for a short presentation by Larry Otos, the Director of the Mount Vernon Parks Foundation, Mayor Jill Boudreau, and Mary Alice Vivian. The ribbon was cut and everyone wasContinue reading “The Nature Trail and Bridge are officially open”

The Nature Trail is done

The Nature Trail is done and we could not be more pleased. Friday and Saturday we got back to our excellent volunteer turnouts. We finished the capping of the trail with an hour of daylight left. We knew it would be close, but this was amazing. The session was extraordinary in a number of ways:Continue reading “The Nature Trail is done”

Help us finish our Nature Trail & Bridge project before our ribbon cutting celebration

Good news, we see the finish line on this project. The bridge is done, we just have some rock walls to finish and crushed rock to spread. With large volunteer turnouts both Friday and Saturday we’ll finish it just in time for the ribbon cutting celebration on September 28th. The glulams for the bridge are in place

Moving the glulams one at a time, two Dingos carried each end until they got to a sharp turn in the trail.Continue reading “The glulams for the bridge are in place”

Join us for bridge building this Friday and Saturday

We mixed, transported and poured the concrete last weekend and it went exactly as planned. We moved the 36′ White Alaskan Cedar Glue Lams close to the bridge site. This weekend we’ll strip the forms and set and affix the beams. We hope you’ll want to be a part of this important milestone. On FridayContinue reading “Join us for bridge building this Friday and Saturday”
