Mount Vernon Trail Builders is pleased to announce that the Skagit-Whatcom-Island Trail Maintaining Organization will be our first featured group of 2013 on Saturday January 26th. Come for the trailbuilding and hang around afterward for a tail gate party hosted by SWITMO. Hope to see everyone there!

Last Saturday we had a very productive trail building session with about 17 volunteers participating. We connected the East Trailhead to La-Z-Boy and the trail is now ready for hikers and bicyclists. We’re working to connect the new Nature Trail to La-Z-Boy. Our session will start at 10:00am on Saturday, and we’ll have donated Starbucks Coffee and pastries from Haggen Foods. Lunch is being provided by the Estep family, so we’re in for a treat. Thanks Leslie! We hope you’ll come out and give us a hand.

We’re back to our old school building techniques; shovels, wheelbarrows, McLeods and Pulaskis. Between now and the first of the year we intend to connect the Nature Trail to La-Z-Boy. The Nature Trail is done and we could not be more pleased. Friday and Saturday we got back to our excellent volunteer turnouts. We finished the capping of the trail with an hour of daylight left.
