Since our last blog update a great deal has happened. First, on 9/30 the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) came out for a special session. They worked really hard, completing a significant trail section. When finished this new multi-use trail connector will give our neighbors on the south side of Little Mountain their own trailhead.Continue reading “Recapping our last two sessions; 9/30 & 10/11 …”

On our 9/27 session corner work continued…
Below you will see our volunteers clearing the extended routing of debris; deadfall, branches and duff. Having the opportunity to extend this corner was made possible by a cooperative effort. Our friend Hal Lee borrowed a GPS unit from the Skagit Land Trust (SLT) to help us determine the property line. This made it possibleContinue reading “On our 9/27 session corner work continued…”
An amazing session on 9/13, with a new program – and ice cream…
As you will see below we had a very productive session: This rock wall was built in this one session with thirteen (13) volunteers. This photo was taken at the end of the session so unfortunately not everyone was still there. Our goal was to take a problem corner on Bonnie and Clyde’s and makeContinue reading “An amazing session on 9/13, with a new program – and ice cream…”
Join us this Saturday as we continue working on Bonnie & Clydes
Yes we go back to work on Bonnie & Clyde’s this coming Saturday, September 13th – our usual time at 10:00 am. We will be meeting at top of Little Mountain Park for this session. We will be working on a switchback that is just below our existing trail Sidewinder. Since the trail is openContinue reading “Join us this Saturday as we continue working on Bonnie & Clydes”
Join us for our last trail building session of the summer
This Saturday will be our last session of the summer. After taking August off we will resume work in September, on 9/13. We hope you’ll put it on your calendar. Our work on Bonnie & Clyde’s is ongoing; we are pleased with our progress. Like last time we will meet at the switchback on LittleContinue reading “Join us for our last trail building session of the summer”
Skagit Valley College (SVC) ‘Wildland Firefighting Class’
On Sunday 3/2/14 SVC’s Wildland Firefighting Class came out as a ‘featured group’, they were awesome. This was just part of the class, the morning van. They began work on a new connector trail on the south side of Little Mountain. Here’s information on their class. Here you see their crew at work, removing deadfallContinue reading “Skagit Valley College (SVC) ‘Wildland Firefighting Class’”
February 22nd was a productive work party
Last session (on 2/22) you might remember we had some pretty tough weather. Our crew leader Jerry Granahan, while smiling, was probably wondering (I know I was) if our “Featured Group” was going to make it. The short answer was yes. The Sedro-Woolley Boys & Girls Club is pictured here with a handful of ourContinue reading “February 22nd was a productive work party”
Julieann Improvements and Bonnie & Clyde work continues
You might recall that on our last session, February 8th, we had some cold weather. We had only a few less volunteers than normal, and as always it was a great session. In this photo you’ll see a handful of our regulars, plus a couple new faces. This was one of our two teams; theyContinue reading “Julieann Improvements and Bonnie & Clyde work continues”
Work on Sidekick progresses
On January 25th work on ‘Sidekick’ continued. The weather was much nicer compared to the January 11th session. We had twenty (20) volunteers, two more than the prior session. We’re off to our best start ever, going back to 2009. Pictured are Maggie Sullivan, Lynn Postler and Martin Dubek — our rockers. Here Art TufteeContinue reading “Work on Sidekick progresses”
2014 is off to a great start
On an extremely blustery Seahawk Saturday we had seventeen (17) hearty volunteers. Five (5) were Mount Vernon High School students, all members of the National Honors Society. They were a pleasure to work with, and their coordinator, Jake Logue (below, on the right), said they’d be back. The final capping of the Nature Trail isContinue reading “2014 is off to a great start”
