North Bridge Update

The contractor’s crew is making progress

Concrete footings have been installed on each side of the creek.  Last week they were able to move the 55′ beams (3,025 lbs each) from the staging area to the bridge site.

How did they move the beams?

The beams were pulled by the contractor’s mini excavator using cables and a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage system with 4 by 4 rollers underneath.

What’s next?

The contractor’s volunteer team expects to do another concrete pour soon. Due to the nature of the construction, they only need 2-3 volunteers per session and are reaching out to small group of individuals with specific skills.
