Trail Update: The plan for May 25…Restoration and Tread on Hill Creek Loop Trail

Hello Trail Volunteers!

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, we will be working in the upper meadow building trail tread and hand finishing the trail corridor.

Beginning at the north end of the meadow (by the historic barn), we will work our way south. The work will include; root removal, trimming, and raking. Because it is late in the season and we are anticipating drought conditions this summer, we will be seeding only in the areas where the soil holds moisture.

Simultaneously, our contractor, Art, will begin work on a bonus trail loop. It will branch off the current trail to head west, then follow Hansen Creek south. It will rejoin the main trail just before heading down the hill to the lower meadow. Art will be roughing in the corridor with his Kubota, avoiding blackberry thickets when he can.

Finally, we will engage in finish work at the south end of the meadow (near the wildflowers).

We are excited to be joined by The Mountaineers GoHike group again! Jenny, Ellie, and Michael H will be hosting guided tours of Hill Creek Trail and the site of North Bridge so our newest volunteers can explore our newest trail and develop appreciation for the work of our community of volunteers
