Trail Update: What will Skagit Trail Builders be working on Saturday, Sept 10?

During our September 2022 work parties we will be concentrating our efforts on building up this section of trail susceptible to flooding. This is a segment of the new loop trail at Northern State Recreation Area in Sedro Woolley, WA. It winds between Hansen Creek and Hill Creek at the northwest corner of the park.

On Saturday, September 10th, we begin our 2022-2023 trail building season. The Pump House Bridge is DONE (hooray)! That means we can bring people, machinery, tools, and materials across the creek to start the next phase of the project.

Now we’re racing to beat the rainy season. We must install drainage (culverts and lots of drain rock) to build up a section of the trail susceptible to flooding. We want this trail to be used year round!

We’ve got work for everyone – all ages, sizes, abilities and skills are encouraged to join us in creating this amazing community asset. We will be running machinery, moving soil and rock, laying landscape cloth, clearing brush, digging blackberry crowns and a variety of other tasks that require many hands.

You can sign up for our Sept 10 work party (or any scheduled date coming up this fall) by visiting our website.

Let us know if you have questions – we look forward to seeing you soon!
