Trail Update: Record-Setting Attendance at our Final Work Party of the Season

We concluded our build season with record-setting attendance!

Fifty-six volunteers brought their enthusiasm, energy, and positive vibes to the final workday of the 2024-2025 build season, June 28, helping us achieve our goals.

🌿 We completed the planned restoration work at the Pump House Bridge, planting ferns and spreading topsoil.

🌿 We successfully raised and leveled the switchback, making it easier for bikes, strollers, and maintenance equipment to navigate the turn.

🌿 We removed the rocks lining the trail at the entrance to the West Meadow Loop to improve access for mowing equipment. We also clipped blackberry vines that were overgrowing the trail tread.

🌿 We cleaned up vegetation left on the trail tread from recent mowing.

🌿 We finished rock sand capping from the Pump House to the trailhead.

At the end of the day, we celebrated with a BBQ, an Alice-in-Wonderland themed treasure hunt, and trail builder trivia.

Thanks to the volunteers from the Mountaineers, who joined us from the Seattle area to support our work, and to our incredible community of local volunteers. These trails are possible because of your passionate collaboration!

We’ll enjoy 8 weeks of summer break, returning to work on Sept 13. We’ll spend one work party prepping the area around Song Sparrow Bridge for the Ribbon Cutting on Sept 19. Then we’ll move to property managed by the Port of Skagit to expand the Northern State Trail System (more details coming soon).
