We had another great day at Northern State Recreation Area finishing our project at Song Sparrow Bridge and the Elk Trail Head!

We were joined by 29 community volunteers, including Kayla, Helen, and Ashley from Skagit Alpine Club.

Here’s what this awesome team accomplished:

  • Added drainage in areas where water runs during heavy rains, including building several grade reversals
  • Completed rock sand capping from the Pump House Trail to the Elk Trail Head
  • Decommissioned the equipment access trail near Song Sparrow Bridge
  • Completed trail side restoration work
  • Leveled the ground at the trailhead
  • Organized invasive holly and recovered garbage on the concrete pad for the Parks Dept to pick up
  • Worked on blackberry control and planted grass and wildflower in the Big Meadow (Hill Creek Trail

There are only 3 volunteer work parties left before we break for summer. Our goal is to fulfill our scope of work by the end of day, June 28.

Join us May 24, June 14, and June 28 and help us reach our trail goals!

Join us on social to see our crew at work (and play).
