Trail Update: Work Party Plan for April 26, 2025

Schedule

8:45 am: Sign-in at parking lot, then we’ll walk to the Elk Trail Head together, about 1/2 mile or 15-minute walk.

9 am: Meet at Elk Trail Head for safety talk and team assignments. Hand out t-shirts for new volunteers and take group photo.

9:30-12: Divide into assigned teams and get to work! ⚒️

Noon: Lunch at the Elk Trail Head

12:45-3: Reorganize teams and then it’s back to work ⚒️

3-4 pm: Clean up and organize tools. Deliver to tool shed.

4:30 pm: Planning Meeting (by Invitation)

Teams
Build up flagged connector trail (4-6 people)

Leads: TBD

  • Applying 4×8 rock and ballast to build up trail surface
  • Potentially begin rock sand capping
Rock work at Song Sparrow Bridge (2-4 people)

Lead : Jenny

  • Finish rock work on east side of bridge
  • Collaborate with restoration team to decommission contractor’s access trail
Power Carrier Drivers (4)

Lead : Kip

  • Carry rock and gravel from the Elk Trail Head to our 2 work sites.
Restoration Crew (Everybody else)

Lead: Ellie & Zoe

  • Restoration work under and near Song Sparrow Bridge
  • Relocate log rounds, ready soil under bridge for wildflower and grass planting
  • Naturalize completed rock work
  • Fill “Rock Garden Triangle” with organic material to ready for wildflower planting
  • Decommission contractor’s access trail, transplant ferns, ready for planting
