Teams

1. Trail Switchback at Pump House Bridge (5 people)

  • Led by Jerry and Jenny.
  • We are building a second rock wall to improve the sustainability of the existing wall and meet the maximum height differential required by the county.
  • Continuing the work from Dec 14, we plan to finish the rock face and create a level surface topped with rock sand.
  • At the south end, we’ll raise the level of the rock channel under the drainpipe and build up rock to cover the pipe and create a safe step-down.
  • At the north end, we’ll place a series of rock steps, closely following the curve of wall, so dogs and their people can safely access the water’s edge.

2. Rock Wall at Elevated Trail (6-8 people)

  • Led by Craig, Shylee, Sativia & Alex
  • Repairing and reinforcing the rock wall on the elevated trail.
  • Continuing the work from Dec 14, pile up 4×8 rock at a 60 degree angle, creating an edge that is a little higher than the trail surface. Pour ballast over to fill space between rocks.
  • At culverts, we are creating rock “walls” around the openings of the culverts to support larger rock on top.

3. Power Carrier Drivers (4 people)

  • Led by Kip
  • Deliver rock and gravel from the Pump House Trail Head to the work sites.

4. Restoration Crew (Everybody else)

  • Starting just before the “rock garden” at the entrance to the bonus loop, trim blackberries and dig up root crowns 4′ back from the trail edge. Plant seed, giving 2″ coverage to support spring germination.
  • Working clockwise around the bonus loop, dig up blackberry crowns 2′ back from the trail edge, cut thistles, and remove windfall.

5. Paul will be our roving lead, walking between teams to make sure everyone has the tools & materials they need, are working safely, provide guidance, answer questions

6. JT will remain at the trail head to load gravel and rock into power carriers.

7. Anna will document the day with photo & video.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
