Teams
1. Trail Switchback at Pump House Bridge (5 people)
- Led by Jerry and Jenny.
- We are building a second rock wall to improve the sustainability of the existing wall and meet the maximum height differential required by the county.
- We’ll start by clearing organic debris and blackberries.
- We’ll pour a layer of ballast rock, then lower large 1-man boulders to the base of the existing rock wall.
- Then we will set the rock face in front of the boulders, back filling and topping with rock sand to create a level surface.
- At the south end, we’ll raise the level of the rock channel under the drainpipe and build up rock to cover the pipe and create a safe step-down.
- At the north end, we’ll place a series of rock steps, closely following the curve of wall, so dogs and their people can safely access the water’s edge.

2. Rock Wall at Elevated Trail (6-8 people)
- Led by Craig, Shylee & Alex
- Repairing and reinforcing the rock wall on the elevated trail.
- The area is freshly weed-whacked, so we will rake up the cut grass while we wait for first loads of rock to arrive.
- Pile up 4×8 rock at a 60 degree angle, creating an edge that is a little higher than the trail surface. Pour ballast over to fill space between rocks.
- At culverts, we are creating rock “walls” around the openings of the culverts to support larger rock on top.

3. Power Carrier Drivers (5 people)
- Led by Kip
- Deliver rock and gravel from the Pump House Trail Head to the work sites.
4. Restoration Crew (Everybody else)
- Led by Lynn
- At the bridge site, clear briars to reveal the historic rock wall.
- At the elevated trail, clear branches and briars to open up view of Hansen Creek (between designated trees).
- Working from the Pump House north to the second meadow, clear debris from trail.
- In first meadow, move blackberry piles to edge of meadow, clip any remaining briars.
- Move fallen branches out of both meadows and away from the trail’s edge.
- Add more rock to the ravine drainage to repair the edge and cover the drain pipe.
5. Paul will be our roving lead, walking between teams to make sure everyone has the tools & materials they need, are working safely, provide guidance, answer questions
6. JT will remain at the trail head to load gravel and rock into power carriers using the loading bucket.
7. Anna will document the day with photo & video.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
