Trail Update: Stewarding Our Trails on September 13

You may have heard that that September 13 was our last volunteer work party on property managed by Skagit County Parks and Recreation.

We were joined by 41 community volunteers including 21 people from the Mountaineers Go Hike Course. These volunteers come from all over Western Washington to explore and steward our local trail system and we are so grateful for their participation!

We spent the day managing vegetation on the 2 mile loop made by the Pumphouse Trail, North Knoll, and the West Meadow. Another small team built additional steps at the bench site on Hansen Creek.

Our goal was to leave the trails in great shape for fall hikes and the September 19 ribbon cutting at Song Sparrow Bridge.

On September 27, we break ground on a new trail, adding to the Northern State Trail System.

The Northern State Trail System is created by connecting multi-use trails, historic farm roads, and both paved and mowed pathways on properties managed by Skagit County Parks and Recreation, the Port of Skagit, and the City of Sedro-Woolley.
