Trail Update: Volunteers Making Connections on March 22

On Saturday, March 22 we were joined by 49 volunteers!

Thanks to Julie and the gang from HKP Architects, along with Christy, students and parents from Kids ‘n K9s 4H Club, and ALL our volunteers for showing up in the rain and putting in the work. We made new friends and got a lot done!

💚 Rock Sand Capping between Culvert 2 and the Wind Phone site

💚 Digging ferns and removing cedar duff from the new connector trail

💚 Rock work at Song Sparrow Bridge

💚 Decommissioning the Borrow Pit

Our drivers walked over 10 miles carrying rock sand from the Elk Trail Head to the west side of Hill Creek Trail! Rock sand capping is the final step in building a sustainable, year-round trail. The compacted surface sheds water and won’t turn to mud in wet weather.

We estimate our volunteers dug up about 50 ferns from the new trail connecting Song Sparrow Bridge to Hill Creek Trail. They have been set aside for transplanting at our next work party.

We’ll be continuing the work on April 12, 2025. Building trail is good dirty fun that makes a real difference for the community! All ages, sizes, and skills are encouraged to join in.
