Trail Update: Rainy weather didn’t stop this crew!

These folks could have spent this rainy Saturday (Oct 26, 2024) snuggled up on the couch with hot cocoa and a movie, but instead, they spent it improving Hill Creek Trail!

Thanks to HKP Architects, United General District 304, and our top-notch crew of community volunteers for spending the day with us.

Here’s what they accomplished:

  • Removed briars and organic material where they were overwhelming the trail in the Big Meadow. (Wow! What a difference! Next year’s wildflower show is going to be amazing!)
  • Created a new borrow pit (the old one is full of water) and mined mineral soil for final trail capping.
  • Spread and compacted trail surface on the west side of the Hill Creek Loop.

We ended the work party a little early because the saturated soil grew difficult to work with. However, we couldn’t have asked for a better crew on such a challenging day. The rain was relentless, but the team kept up their good spirits with friendly conversation, jokes, and laughter.

There are only 2 work parties left before the new year. Join us for more muddy fun on Nov 9 and Dec 14.
