Trail Update: Skagit Alpine Club clears the connector trail to the north bridge site AND the plan for April 13

Are you excited about the new bridge? We are!

The beams have been delivered and on April 6 Skagit Alpine Club cleared the connector trail linking Hill Creek Trail to the bridge site.

They were an enthusiastic, curious, super-fun crew to work with. And, so fast! We accomplished far more in this specially scheduled session than we anticipated. And now we have a huge stockpile of ferns ready to be transplanted.

At our upcoming work party (April 13) we’ll be working on Hill Creek Trail near the Big Rock and connector trail:

Four power carriers will deliver ballast rock to fill in wet areas on the trail. We’ll need drivers and people to spread and pack the rock.

We’ll be preparing the borrow pit for excavation and restoration: moving and stockpiling a large amount of organic material.

Lynn and Kim will be leading the trail-side restoration crew, transplanting ferns from the bridge connector to Hill Creek Trail. The small power carrier will be available to move heavy root balls.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
