A year of building trail at Northern State Recreation Area: Review of 2023

Our volunteer crew accomplished a lot in 2023! Here’s a quick list of our progress in numbers:

  • This year we improved and built 2.7 miles of trails.
  • Our volunteer hours were up by 20%! Community volunteers gave 2696 hours of their time to the trail project.
  • Younger volunteers got involved; those under 50 years old put in 43% of our hours, with 15% coming from students under 18. In the past more than 90% of our volunteer hours came from individuals over 55 years of age
  • Top Group this year is: Sedro Woolley High School & Earth Club. They contributed 329 hours.

Our goals for 2024 include completing the Hill Creek Trail loop and linking the Pump House and Hill Creek trails with a bridge. (Take a look at our current project map for details.)

A supportive community and wonderful partners make it all possible. We invite volunteers of all ages, sizes, and abilities to get involved. No experience is needed.

Please sign up to volunteer in the new year, or support the project by making a donation.

Happy Holidays! See you in 2024!
