Hey! We have interns!

We are so excited to welcome our first ever interns!

Sativia and RJ first started volunteering with us through their involvement with Sedro Woolley High School Earth Club. They’ve been reliable volunteers, eager learners, and a lot of fun to work with.

It’s been our goal for a while to develop more leaders and grow capacity within our team. Sativia and RJ are a great fit for this role. It supports their interest in outdoor recreation, provides real work experience, and will help them earn their first Varsity in Volunteering letter!

They are being mentored by our Youth Coordinator and long-time trail volunteer, Bret Turner. Bret is a teacher in the Sedro Woolley School District and has been volunteering with Skagit Trail Builders for about 10 years, going waaaay back to when we were working at Little Mountain Park as Mount Vernon Trail Builders.

Bret, Sativia, and RJ are providing essential support at our volunteer work parties: picking up the coffee donation from Starbucks, setting up the sign-in station, helping with tools and organization, taking photos, helping train volunteers, and putting equipment away at the end of the day.

These internships are made possible with support from our community partners: United General District 304 and Skagit County Parks and Recreation.
