We are thrilled to have been awarded a generous grant by the Skagit Community Foundation that enabled us to purchase a new Canycom power carrier!
This funding represents far more than financial backing; it demonstrates the community’s support for our mission and the incredible work of our volunteers and partners.
This essential piece of equipment reduces our dependence on rental equipment, saving time and money while directly advancing our goal of creating an interconnected system of community trails in Skagit County that benefits the health and well-being of many types of users.
As we finish our work at Northern State Recreation Area and move to Port of Skagit and City of Sedro Woolley properties, our trail-building process is evolving. Having our own equipment and doing more of the groundwork ourselves (in the past we have utilized a contractor for initial clearing) will improve the efficiency of our work while cutting costs.
We are deeply grateful to the dedicated grant writers at United General District 304 who helped make this partnership possible. Their expertise and advocacy were instrumental in clearly communicating our needs and the potential impact of the grant. Their professional guidance throughout the application process was invaluable.
Thank you Skagit Community Foundation and United General District 304 for your partnership and believing in our work!

The mission of Skagit Trail Builders (STB) is to design, build, and advocate for an interconnected system of multi-use trails in Skagit County.
STB is a program of United General District 304. The trails at Northern State are the result of our partnership with Skagit County Parks and Recreation, the Port of Skagit, and the City of Sedro-Woolley.
